Catharine Arrowood Named Influential Business Leader

(RALEIGH, N.C.)Catharine Biggs Arrowood, a Partner in Parker Poe’s Raleigh office, has been named to the Triangle Business Journal’s “The Triangle’s 2012 Most Influential Business Leaders” list.

Ms. Arrowood was among 100 leaders chosen in business, education, philanthropy and government who influence and impact the local communities throughout the Triangle. In the list’s inaugural year, the TBJ selected individuals who “have made unparalleled contributions in forwarding our collective goal of being one of the best places in the country to live, work and play.”

Ms. Arrowood has practiced law for more than three decades, focusing on antitrust and business torts. She has served as president of the Wake County Bar Association and of the 10th Judicial District of the North Carolina State Bar, as well as Parker Poe’s Management Committee. Ms. Arrowood has been named among Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America and to Business North Carolina magazine’s “Legal Elite.” In 2011, she became the sixth recipient of the North Carolina Bar Association’s H. Brent McKnight Renaissance Lawyer award.

She was recently appointed to the prestigious International Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators by the International Centre for Dispute Resolution.

In addition to her accomplishments in business, Ms. Arrowood is greatly involved in the local community and is an avid supporter of the arts. She has served as Chair of the North Carolina Symphony Society Board of Trustees since 2010 and has been a board member since 2003. On Thursday, Ms. Arrowood will participate on a panel “Investing in the Arts is Investing in our Future” at an event hosted by the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce’s recently established community arts and culture involvement initiatives.

A graduate of Wake Forest University, Ms. Arrowood received her J.D., cum laude, in 1976 and her B.A., cum laude, in 1973.
