North Carolina
In Charlotte, three Parker Poe attorneys were named "Lawyer of the Year," including two for the second straight year.
John Beyer was voted the top attorney in health care litigation for 2019 after being voted the top attorney for the defense of personal injury litigation for 2018. John leads Parker Poe’s Professional Negligence & Product Liability Defense Group and has deep experience representing hospitals, physicians, and other professionals.
Chip Holmes was named "Lawyer of the Year" for the defense of product liability litigation. It is the fifth straight year Chip has been voted the top attorney in a practice area. He has more than 20 years of experience defending businesses and professionals in state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration and mediation.
Rogers Warner was named "Lawyer of the Year" in Charlotte for health care law. Rogers has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions in the health care and behavioral health services industries, and he advises clients on health care regulatory matters.
In Raleigh, four Parker Poe attorneys were named "Lawyer of the Year," including one for the seventh straight year.
Catharine Arrowood was selected as "Lawyer of the Year" for arbitration. It is the third time she has received that honor for arbitration and the seventh straight year she has been voted the top attorney in a practice area. Catharine arbitrates and litigates for large and small businesses and has considerable experience with regulated companies.
Kevin Chignell was named "Lawyer of the Year" for insurance litigation. Kevin is the firm’s Raleigh Office Relationship Partner and has represented insurers and companies in claim-related litigation and regulatory matters for more than 20 years.
Charles Meeker was voted by his peers as the "Lawyer of the Year" in municipal litigation. Charles is a former mayor of Raleigh who has represented local governments in federal and state trials and appeals, including tax cases.
Also in Raleigh, Chris Thomas was named "Lawyer of the Year" in copyright law. Chris concentrates his practice on disputes concerning intellectual property rights and has assisted clients with all aspects of copyright and trademark registration, licensing, and transfers.
South Carolina
In Charleston, Tom Hildebrand was voted by his peers as the "Lawyer of the Year" for construction litigation. Tom has more than 30 years of experience handling litigation matters related to the construction industry, including defending developers against class action lawsuits.
In Columbia, Jim Werner was voted by his peers as the "Lawyer of the Year" for construction law. Jim has extensive experience resolving a broad variety of disputes in the construction industry, including defending contractors against claims of delay and defective work.
In the Greenville/Spartanburg area, two Parker Poe attorneys were voted by their peers as the "Lawyer of the Year."
Kevin Dunlap was named the top attorney for environmental law. Kevin has acted as lead counsel in numerous trials involving environmental issues in state and federal courts, including class action lawsuits.
Richard Few was named the top attorney for mergers and acquisitions law. Richard is the firm's Greenville office leader and has decades of experience providing strategic tax planning and structuring advice to clients in mergers, acquisitions, financing, and incentives transactions.
