Charlotte, N.C. – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Charlotte partner Sarah Hutchins has won the North Carolina Bar Association’s Citizen Lawyer Award. Sarah is among a group of attorneys and judges from across the state who “exemplify the ideals of a citizen lawyer by volunteering their time for worthy community or civic causes to improve the quality of life of those in their local or statewide communities,” according to the N.C. Bar Association.
Sarah is a leader in the Charlotte area’s nonprofit community. She is chair of the board of directors for the Humane Society of Charlotte. She serves on the board of directors of the McColl Center for Art + Innovation. And she recently concluded two years as a board of trustees apprentice with Blumenthal Performing Arts. In recent years, she played important roles in helping those organizations navigate pivotal events – a major anniversary for the Blumenthal, a leadership change at the McColl Center, and a capital campaign for the Humane Society.
In addition, Sarah serves on the Mecklenburg County Bar Foundation’s board of directors. In that role, she helps advance public understanding of the law and supports the charitable and educational goals of the Mecklenburg County Bar. She has also served on the board of directors for the Mecklenburg County Bar itself.
At Parker Poe, Sarah is an experienced litigator and an integral part of the firm’s internal operations, leading the firm’s Community Service Committee and serving on its Professional Review Committee and Recruiting Committee. The Charlotte Business Journal recognized her last year as one of the 40 top business leaders under the age of 40 in the region.
Sarah and the other Citizen Lawyer Award winners will be recognized at the N.C. Bar Association’s annual meeting on June 20 in Asheville.
