Josh Marks Bolsters Parker Poe's Environmental, Conservation, and Sustainability Services

Atlanta, Ga. – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Josh Marks has joined the firm’s Atlanta office. Josh has nearly three decades of experience with environmental policy and law. He advises clients on their environmental compliance, conservation, sustainability, real estate, land use, and corporate legal needs.

Josh has counseled clients on a broad range of environmental compliance issues, including federal and state regulations impacting renewable energy and ecosystem market (carbon, wetland, and habitat) projects, Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act compliance, and contaminated site analysis and remediation. He has also secured environmental permits for clients and lobbied on their behalf.

He has advised corporations regarding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing, with a focus on environmental and social responsibility issues, renewable energy, and climate policy. He has also advised financial advisory firms and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) on natural resource protection, climate change modeling, messaging, physical and transitional risk, and shareholder engagement.

In addition, Josh has represented clients in all aspects of the purchase, sale, exchange, and conservation of land and developed real estate. He has helped clients navigate land management, zoning, natural resources, and condemnation issues, including negotiation of land use agreements with third-party utility, oil and gas, mining, and railroad companies, as well as agencies at all levels of government.

Earlier in his career, he interned with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Regional Counsel in Atlanta. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he held a variety of advocacy and public policy roles, including serving as an environmental policy advisor to Michigan Congressman Dale Kildee and as a campaign coordinator for environmental interest groups. He joined Parker Poe from GreenMark Consulting, which he founded.
