Atlanta, Ga. – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Shayla J. Wright was honored as part of the Georgia Tech Black Alumni Organization’s celebration of the 60th anniversary of the first three Black students enrolling at Georgia Tech. Shayla was named among Georgia Tech’s 60 for 60, which recognized 60 Black alumni for their success as student-athletes and their outstanding achievements beyond the walls of the university.

Shayla is a former senior captain of Georgia Tech’s women’s basketball team. The team made the NCAA Tournament all four years of her collegiate career, including a run to the Sweet 16 in 2012. Shayla was also president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board, a voting member of the Georgia Tech Athletic Association's board of trustees, and one of two Division I student-athletes selected to serve as a representative for the NCAA Women's Basketball Issues Committee.

Shayla was honored with other former student-athletes on Saturday, September 25 at the Georgia Tech vs. UNC-Chapel Hill football game. Georgia Tech and its Black Alumni Organization have many other celebrations planned throughout this school year to celebrate the milestone anniversary.

At Parker Poe, Shayla focuses on sports and entertainment law and business litigation. She has provided guidance to the Georgia Tech Athletic Association, the Georgia State Athletic Department, and their student-athletes on name, image, and likeness (NIL) contract, liability, and eligibility considerations.
