Charleston, SC – Bobby Byrd, managing partner of Parker Poe's Charleston office, has been elected to a three-year term as president of the board of trustees of the Charleston Stage Company, the largest professional theater company in South Carolina.  The board of trustees is the Charleston Stage Company’s governing body and oversees its budgeting and institutional policies and procedures, approves each season’s programs, and assists in the company’s major fundraising activities.

Before stepping into the role of president, Bobby had been involved with Charleston Stage Company for several years, first as a member of Director’s Circle and, for the past year, as a member of the board. Bobby says, “I’m excited to be part of the Charleston Stage Company, particularly as it launches its upcoming 40th anniversary year.”

Since its founding in 1978, Charleston Stage has entertained an audience of more than one million people. It is located at Historic Dock Street Theatre, which recently underwent a $19 million renovation. In addition to premiering new plays and musicals, the theatre company hosts a variety of education programs each year, including after-school theatre training and low-price performances for students.
