Understanding Implicit Bias on Attorney Competence

9th Annual Business Court Seminar

    Speaking Engagements
  • October 22, 2021

Shalanna Pirtle will present on Friday, October 22 at the 9th Annual Business Court Seminar. She will be part of a panel from 9:40 to 10:40 that morning discussing the importance of diversity and inclusion under proposed amendment to Rule 1.1 of the Rules of Professional Conduct. The proposed amendment would identify awareness of implicit bias and cultural differences that might affect a representation as an element of attorney competency.

The seminar is hosted by the Mecklenburg County Bar and brings together judges, litigators, and other professionals to discuss the latest trends at the North Carolina Business Court. Several members of Parker Poe's Business Litigation Group will be in attendance.
