Steve Britt, counsel for cyber, data privacy, and technology at Parker Poe, spoke on a panel at an artificial intelligence (AI) meetup event on April 11 at the Charleston Digital Corridor Learning Center.

The panel was hosted by Dave Ingram, CEO of Querri Inc., and Steve was joined by Rob Slaughter, founder of Symplexity AI, a custom large language model AI company. Together they discussed the great divide between expectations and reality when it comes to AI and what it takes to get value from AI in the real world.

Steve also discussed the ever-changing laws and regulations relating to AI, including the new European Union AI Act and the recently introduced federal data privacy act called the American Privacy Rights Act of 2024.

The Charleston Digital Corridor is a community-sourced initiative to attract, nurture, and promote the region’s tech economy through an array of impactful programs, products, and events.
