David Epperson provides counsel on economic development, land use, and the full range of local government needs.
Prior to joining Parker Poe, David spent 17 years in the public sector, serving as county attorney and, most recently, chief administrative officer for Clarendon County, South Carolina. In those roles, he provided advice and counsel to elected and appointed officials, heads of various government departments, and county boards and commissions in areas such as public financing, employment, planning and zoning, and economic development. He prepared ordinances, contracts, and governmental agreements and worked closely with bond counsel and financial advisors in public financing.
As administrator of Clarendon County, located between Columbia and Charleston with a size of about 31,000 people, David was responsible for implementing and maintaining an annual fiscal budget of $21.8 million. In that role, he directly and indirectly supervised 350 full and part-time employees.
Prior to his public sector career, David practiced as an attorney in York and Manning, South Carolina. He focused his work in real estate transactions, real estate litigation, probate administration, and general litigation. He earned his law degree and bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina.
Outside of work, David enjoys spending time with his family, going to sporting events, hunting, and fishing.
