Emily Poe regularly defends healthcare providers and institutions in high-stakes professional negligence cases. She represents hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals, as well as their insurers, in litigation involving allegations of malpractice, personal injury, and wrongful death. In addition to her litigation practice, she counsels providers and facilities facing investigations, complaints, and disciplinary proceedings before licensing boards and regulatory agencies. Emily also advises healthcare practices and hospitals on compliance, risk management, and operational best practices. Her work combines courtroom advocacy with strategic guidance aimed at protecting both professional reputations and long-term institutional interests.
Prior to joining Parker Poe, Emily served as an Assistant District Attorney in Mecklenburg County, where she gained significant trial experience and honed the advocacy skills she now brings to her civil litigation practice.
Before practicing law, Emily taught middle school in Charlotte through Teach for America, a highly selective national program that places college graduates in under-resourced schools. That experience sharpened her ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and reinforced her commitment to service — qualities that continue to guide her practice.
