Nana Asante-Smith is a litigator in Parker Poe's Raleigh office. She focuses her practice on complex civil litigation, including breach of contract, unfair trade practice and securities cases, and government and internal investigations.

Before joining Parker Poe, Nana was an assistant district attorney in Wake County. She prosecuted a complex array of cases that included assaults, child abuse, larcenies, driving while impaired offenses, and mental health-related cases.

Nana is committed to serving her community and her fellow attorneys, including as president of the North Carolina Association of Black Lawyers and as a member of the Durham Crisis Response Center's board of directors. She served as attorney general of the Graduate and Professional Honor System and president of the Student Bar Association while at UNC School of Law. She was inducted into the school's James E. and Carolyn B. Davis Society, which recognizes eight graduates each year for extraordinary leadership ability, integrity, dedication, and character.

Prior to and during her law school tenure, she served as a domestic violence and sexual assault advocate with the Durham Crisis Response Center, where she was a liaison among survivors of domestic and sexual violence, the Durham District Attorney’s Office, and the Durham Police Department. Nana received her undergraduate degree from Duke University.
