Bill Pappas provided results-oriented corporate counsel to national and international clients in the life sciences, manufacturing, pharmaceutical-related, health care, and investment industries. He guided clients in various business and transactional matters that include corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, business investments and expansions, and stock and asset purchases and sales. In addition, he has substantial experience representing both domestic and foreign business entities in their private investments in the United States and abroad, including corporate relocation and expansion projects, as well as corporate finance and lending transactions.

Bill has served as general counsel to the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, the leading catalyst for North Carolina's life sciences industry. He is also a former leader of Parker Poe's Life Sciences Industry Team.

He has completed a six-year term on the firm's board of directors as well. 

Representative Experience

  • Represented a major international furniture and wood products manufacturer in the foreign direct investment deal for its first U.S. manufacturing facility. Our services included site selection consultation, negotiation of multimillion-dollar state and county incentives package, and negotiation of utility easements and other issues related to the site.
  • Provided corporate governance, tax and general counsel to a foundation that supports a large health care system.
  • Counseled a major Chinese company on the legal and operational issues involved in organizing a U.S. operating subsidiary.
  • Represented a leading nonprofit life sciences research entity in a series of asset divestitures and related transactions.
  • Represented a Canadian company in acquiring a building products manufacturing company and implementing a $175 million expansion of its operating facilities.
  • Represented a multi-office medical specialist practice in evaluating the reorganization of its practice and health care options.
  • Represented a large primary care medical practice in expanding its operations through a merger.
