Atlanta, GA – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia has named Ashley Akins as the recipient of the Signature Service award. The statewide award is given to younger lawyers who have demonstrated service to the legal profession, the public, and the State Bar of Georgia.
Ashley has served on the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Georgia’s Young Lawyer Division (YLD) since 2016. She has served in various YLD leadership positions, including as co-chair of the Signature Fundraiser Committee, Leadership Academy, and YLD Legal Food Frenzy, a two-week fundraising competition to benefit regional food banks. She also has been the recipient of the YLD award of achievement for outstanding service to the public and outstanding service to the profession for numerous years.
Ashley is a partner at Parker Poe who focuses her practice on education law, representing K-12 school districts and private education entities. She actively litigates and counsels clients on issues of student discipline and Title IX, special education, FERPA compliance, school board governance, employment, workers' compensation, and various student due process issues.
