Lucy Anderson helps businesses solve some of their most pressing and sensitive employment challenges. Through her focus on building deep relationships and understanding each client's business, she has guided clients through multiple growth stages and business cycles.
Lucy frequently works with clients on urgent employment situations, including discrimination and harassment allegations, internal investigations, injuries, and overlapping leave entitlements. Her experience guiding clients through those situations anchors her proactive counsel; she understands how to create and revise policies and procedures that affect change. Across her practice, she tailors her counsel to the individual needs of the client and applies creativity in thinking through solutions.
Lucy also defends employers in state and federal courts. She represents companies regarding claims arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). She counsels clients on litigation risk and trial and settlement strategies.
Additionally, she advises companies and management by responding to Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Department of Labor (DOL) charges.
Lucy began her career in the legal department of a global restaurant entity. That experience informs her understanding of how businesses operate, including how they train employees and manage sensitive situations.
She also adds value for clients as a Charlotte native with extensive knowledge of the Carolinas and its business community.
Lucy earned her law degree from Loyola University New Orleans. During law school, she was the president of the Association of Women Law Students and a published member of the Maritime Law Journal, writing on the prevalence of employment arbitration agreements in the cruise ship industry. She earned a bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University.
