Roderic Woodson represents clients on business and regulatory issues before the District of Columbia’s executive departments, city council, and administrative bodies. He has also assisted in drafting a number of legislative and regulatory initiatives that have been enacted or adopted by the District of Columbia on a variety of subjects, including construction labor, business and economic development, health care, taxation and business regulation, public utilities, securities, alcoholic beverage control, telecommunications, and various subjects of administrative regulation.
Roderic has acted as sponsor counsel for tax increment financing transactions, as well as borrower counsel for revenue bond conduit financings. He also regularly provides counsel to participants in the health care industry on a number of legislative, regulatory, and policy issues. He provides advice to the real estate and building construction industries and related businesses on local legal, legislative, and policy issues, including certified business enterprises, first source employment, apprenticeship training, and workforce development requirements and initiatives. In addition, he counsels to businesses licensed by the DC Alcoholic Beverage Control Board on regulatory, legislative, and policy matters.
Roderic is a former member of the corporation finance staff of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and he was the first general counsel of the District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency. He has been legal adviser to the District of Columbia Public Service Commission and legal counsel to the District’s Office of the People’s Counsel in electric utility rate-making proceedings. He has also been land use counsel for a regional real estate developer, local counsel for a Southern-based real estate company, real property tax assessment litigation counsel, and has appeared before all major regulatory agencies and judicial tribunals of the District of Columbia.
