Columbia, SC – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce that Adam Neil has joined the firm’s Columbia office as counsel. Adam has more than 20 years of experience trying cases and handling appeals in both state and federal courts.
He has tried approximately 50 cases to verdict, including before juries, and argued and briefed over 20 appellate cases. He has experience in U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and South Carolina state courts.
Adam joins Parker Poe from the South Carolina Department of Revenue, where he served most recently as deputy director for Tax Policy Services. Prior to that he served as managing counsel for litigation. In that role, he provided leadership and direction for all litigation and potential litigation involving the department, including oversight of the department’s litigation attorneys and staff involved in complex cases.
Prior to the Department of Revenue, Adam served as assistant general counsel with the South Carolina State Fiscal Accountability Authority. There, he advised the Insurance Reserve Fund, a division of the authority, on litigation strategy and assessed all proposals for approval, including real property transactions, bond issues, and permanent improvement projects on behalf of the general counsel’s office. Adam also worked in private practice for nearly 17 years before his time in government service.
