Raleigh, NC – Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein LLP is pleased to announce Cristina Stam has joined the firm as counsel in Raleigh. Cristina is a litigator and former federal prosecutor who represents clients at trial and on appeal.
She investigates and litigates cases involving complex commercial disputes, including claims under the False Claims Act, and defends businesses in large-scale government and internal investigations. Her litigation experience also informs her proactive counsel, advising clients on compliance best practices. She has experience representing clients in federal court as well as before administrative bodies.
Prior to joining Parker Poe, Cristina was as an assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, overseeing sweeping investigations into violations of federal criminal laws and trying cases to juries. Earlier in her career, Cristina was a litigator at Williams & Connolly in Washington, DC, where she focused on complex civil litigation and criminal defense.
"I'm thrilled to join Parker Poe and return to my home state of North Carolina," Cristina said. "I look forward to working with the exceptional lawyers at the firm and building strong relationships with my clients."
"We are excited to welcome Cristina to our growing complex business litigation and investigation team," said Melanie Dubis, a Raleigh partner who leads the firm’s Business Litigation Group. "Her experience trying cases as a federal prosecutor in the Eastern District of Virginia, known as the rocket docket for its speedy resolution of cases, strengthens our bench of trial lawyers."
Cristina is a former law clerk for the Honorable Claude M. Hilton of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
